It's been so long since I updated, so thought i'd put some videos, atleast thats something.

It's impossible to get Paheli to pose for cameras!! If you ask her to smile she just looks stoic and serious and says "smile". Its either me behind the camera goofing off and then scrambling to focus a shot. Today we tried something different.

This is one of those rare times where she figured what a video recording is. I sett the swivel screen facing her so she could see what she was doing...that was all the incentive she needed!!!

I wonder what this girly will get up to when she is older?..being a performer pretty much fits the bill lol !

Gosh this one is going to be a long one, so let me break this up.
Birth Certificate
After the hearing came getting a copy of the court order, adoption deed and then applying for a birth certificate. this would have wrapped up our Kolkata chapter. We were decided that we were not going to leave kolkata before having all this together. b extended his trip by a week and tek Singh helped a whole lot by extending his stay so B could do that, bless his soul. I cant thank khoka da and Papia boudi enough for their hospitality and support without which kolkata would have been a nightmare. Also not to mention the compassion we got from the kolkata municipality ( much maligned ) , Soumeta from ISSA and Mr. Pahari from Sahara, all of them and some honest promises from me got all the above in time. The story is long but lets just say there are a few good people still and they make up for all the terrible ones.
All papers in hand and a lil help from benadryl did the trick to land us back in Delhi on the 17th of December. b left the same night ona 3 AM flight. We applied for an interview for a tatkal passport and i went to sleep thinking it will be 4 days before i head for DXB!! god was i stupid!?

My birthday gift

10th of December 2008, Paheli turned 9 months old, 5 when handed over to us :). One day before my 32nd birthday, i got the best gift i could think of.
A Child of our own, recognized by the govt of India and all and sundry.
Its been a messy tour, which was promised to be 3 months at the longest has already crossed that deadline by 30 days at good !
Phew!
The scrutiny report sucked, for all the effort we made! and lots of people tried, and we are grateful for it.
the hearing was exactly 2 minutes, and we were congratulated on becoming formal parents for Paheli, just like that !!!!, no questions, no arbitration's, no nightmares nothing.
Heard Bhunia fell into a man hole, laughed for 1 minute in mourning lol.There is a god, as everyone keeps telling me, i wish he died. Like a cocroach , creeping back again, hope he is born as one again. No wait!that means he will survive for eons like the species!!
anyways, all is well that ends well.

22nd November! That was the last I wrote & if I thought I was tired then, don’t know what I am now!?
It’s been mayhem since the meeting in Kolkata, every day trying to get clearances trying to find someone who is sympathetic to our cause. Things just keep getting from bad to worse.

It’s sad people like this manage the fate of children, to the beginning of their ends! It’s worse than disgusting.
I now know the scare it feels to even think about losing your child, even though it’s an empty threat.

But we have decided to take the straight path and in government terms in India, it means a long wait. At the cost of morals and ethics, so be it. Paheli is my child and I will fight for her.

We are all headed for Kolkata on Monday, if all goes well, I’ll consider it my birthday gift, if not, I’ll make it my resolution, either ways I cannot afford to lose.

So much has happened since the last time i wrote, i dont know where to begin! We spent a weekend at Kuhu' place, and discovered that Paheli can actually laugh, like laugh like a grown up, as you will note in the video in the post below :).

then B came for a quick visit as we realised that things are really not going to move by the month end followed by a visit to kolkata.

We did a 3 days out, paheli's real outing at delhi haat, it was great fun, including shankar getting lost on the roads to the haat and then shopping, eating momos and Paheli' first taste of Fanta !!!

Pashu gets upset every time she cant recognise him, i can understand but it cant be helped!

Kolkata turned out quite another fiasco, I am finally resorting to RTI and hoping something somewhere will work out. We got quite a scare when we were told it was a illegal case. It was a mad rush.

Haven't been able to write as Paheli has been down with congestion, the poor child is paranoid about lying down, as she chokes , result sleep with her sitting up = my back killed. Finally today after worrying everyone , poor Dimma and Dadu and everyone in the house hankering trying to help her, she is better today. Fingers crossed. A new maid is on trial and so far she seems ideal. No news still from Kolkata, B flying in on tuesday.

She sneaked to sleep early at noon with Dadu ( who always covers for her !! ), result = when i came to bed after lunch at 2, madam was awake and fresh after a nap. I pretended to be asleep and ignored her but she continued to slap my face to wake me up !!! When i still ignored she gave this loud Tarzan call that got dadu rushing in from his room to check if anything had happened, something had..Paheli had risen like the Phoenix !@#$%^...so i guess afternoon nap is a luxury i cannot take for granted.
I then woke up chatted for a while with her and then decided to torture her back by cleaning her nose and ears, sad bit was she likes her ears cleaned..this baby is real strange!!
Then we decided to have some fun and the result was the photoshoot above, she is total model material ..my girl :)

Mother - Grandmother issues

Sometimes the amount of gyan "I have looked after more kids than you..." blah blah gets to you so I let mom have it today but then she means well and all sorted now.
No news of Kolkata as yet !!!
Paheli is better and apart from having slightly less food, she was okay.
As long as she sticks to Cerelac, fruits and milk all is okay but then everything on the dinner table interests her more and she wants it and then the Pidduu cant handle it..what am I going to do with this child ????!!!
On video chat she finally conceded a grin, gurgle and scream for Pashu' sake so I guess he's happy :) good for him, he must miss her terribly.
I am going to give a maid a one week shot here, if she works out maybe we'll sponsor her.
No strength to pen more...so rest will need to wait.

First time shopping

Yesterday we all went to Central Market, was great after ages. Bought all kinds of junk. Paheli went along in her white new dress, was pretty happy most times, as a result had grilled sandwich and real orange juice, that was her 'kick" part.
Resultant a bad tummy with loads of acid.
Came home and collapsed to sleep and we all mooned over the goodies, i got my early birthday gifts as well :).
In the evening, Cerelac fiasco happened, just as i spooned the last in, i didn't quite manage to stop the 'ywack ywack" pukey, and it was all over her nose , hair and face. !! she didnt want cerelac, PERIOD..mom started her usual pandemonium that she is unwell ( which she isnt ) !!, finally bathed her, gave her a fresh bowl of cereal again and this time i manged to persue her to keep it in, drinking milk before bed was quite another game !!
Today she decided to be difficult.. PERIOD
ufff again mum started, finally spooned milk in and she was off to bed.
Phew! What a day!
She has learned this new sound click click and keeps grinning about it, its funny :)
We also video chatted on yahoo and google with B, he was pretty kicked while Paheli had no clue coz she couldnt see him :)

Bad Hair Day :)

This sure is a Paheli moment :), one of her bad hair days, this is just as she woke up.

Was listening to "We've only just begun " by Carpenters and loved the lyrics, seems apt for the time :) so put it up for my Facebook status. I love Karen Carpenter' voice, its golden and forever!

Paheli finally pottied so is now happy and still foo fooing all the liquidy food, I wonder who taught her!! i want to kill that person, at the end it all ends up on my face!

Tomorrow we plan to go shopping together, lets see if it works out or a fiasco :)

Golden Evening...Potty Training Fiasco

After a long time saw and felt the lovely golden winter evening in Delhi, the weather is beautiful now a days and reminds me that i don't take out the time often enough ! to appreciate small things in life. Paheli decided to throw a fit in the morning because i went shopping while she slept for 40 mnts so when i was back she suddenly realised "oooh ! I forgot to throw a tantrum" and so it started..the rest is a 50 buck guess! Anyways madam has eaten and slept and i was so pleased with my 75 rupees potty buy that i decided to try making her sit on it.

Very enthusiastically I put her on it in the evening and that was the end of the world!!! I mean how bad is it to sit on a pot ?.. I mean how painful ???? !!! Someone please explain this to my daughter!! I was telling Kuhu over the phone..we now have an assortment of toilet trainers on top of the water cooler in the balcony and considering grandma' in the loo most times , it will be ME who will resort to using one of them, these days !!

An otherwise peaceful day, Paheli was cruising around the place on her walker and singing like Bhimsen Joshi, ate well and slept fine, just no potty which makes her full the whole time.All well otherwise.

When i managed to stuff my ears and feed her Cerelac ( which she hates but is the only food she CAN digest) ..she developed this new method..she just closes her eyes tight shut and goes to sleep..now do what you can mommy dear..i am asleep!!!
and they say 6 month olds cant think. THEN she promptly wakes up when i wipe her face to put her to bed with a wide grin and all wakey wakey!

Miss Paheli has a mind of her own and when mommy dear forgets she reminds, man she has lungs like Steven Tyler! and i wish i could smack her !@#$% how on earth did my mum and dad never ever slap me,no wonder i have turned out to be such a pest.
Wait Paheli...u will get it back in due time...just the way i did.
She wanted to sleep AND drink milk and then she wanted neither and yelled louder till grandma rushed in to rescue..what did i do ??????

A better day

So far she is doing better today. Has pottied as it seems to be top priority on her list!! god knows how many psychotics we will have in our family.
Wore a salwar kameez today :) trust fabindia to make them in size 0!!!
Finally decided she will accept her pacifier but sucked on the wrong end !!
All she says is mmmmmm
Didu is worried she is dumb hee hee, i guess they talk when they are a year and half, Didu is being very ambitious isnt it?! :)
She garbles and talks back and thinks we understand all she says.
Has gone for her walk, albiet Shibani' walk and her lap round :)
Mom' eyes are also better so i am pleased today.

Paheli is all congested and cant sleep too well or eat, mum isn't well either, she tried putting dushtoo to sleep all afternoon, hope its better tomorrow

Loves fishies, guess there is some bong in her!! but hates Cerelac, i think i should drop Nestle a line..wonder if other babies do it too! Teething pains are over and she is now the proud displayer of 2 in the bottom row.
She stands for 5 seconds and is thoroughly kicked :).
The walker of course if her ship, so she cruises.
Yesterday she tried on shoes and after a while is getting used to them :)

Been a long time without B and the doggies, i miss them and i miss home but hopefully things will wrap up this month.
Mum and dad' life seems to revolve around her the whole day, they will be pretty miserable when we leave, but i guess that is how life is.
I left the nest some time ago and Paheli will do so when her time comes, then it will be our time to be miserable. Its the full circle and life goes on.
